Director of Audubon Regional Library System
The Audubon Regional Library System Board of Trustees seeks a director who understands the value of public libraries, communicates with the residents, understands the importance of partnering with communities and their agencies, and empowers staff by encouraging collaborative efforts. We are looking for a director who can effectively promote and support Audubon Regional Library System’s mission as well as work in an efficient manner with the Board of Trustees.
Hours: 40 hours per week, some evenings, and weekends
Requirements: A four-year undergraduate degree in any field. Master of library science degree (MLS) from an American Library Association accredited school. A minimum of five (5) years public library experience, with supervisory experience preferred. Certification by the Louisiana Board of Library Examiners is not required but the candidate must be able to attain within the first 2 years of employment.
Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Board of Trustees, the library director is responsible for the operations of the library system and the development and implementation of its services program: including: assisting the board with planning and policy development and managing all library resources, including human resources; coordinating with the board of trustees to promote and improve system services; community outreach and liaison with the parish councils, community organizations and schools; and overseeing the maintenance and safety of the library buildings and grounds. The library director hires, mentors, and supervises all library employees for the system.
Salary range: $52,000-$60,000 based on qualifications and previous experience.

Working environment: Audubon Regional Library System serves a rural population of roughly 29,000 residents in two (2) parishes in southeast Louisiana. The main library is in East Feliciana Parish in the town of Clinton, which also is the parish seat. East Feliciana has a library branch in the town of Jackson. The adjacent parish of St. Helena has a branch in the town of Greensburg, which is also the parish seat.
